Ingredients

Scale

For the Waffles:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of crispy bacon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

Optional Toppings:

  • Slices of cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Maple syrup drizzle

Instructions

  • Make the Waffles:
In a large bowl, mix the flour, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, molasses, and brown sugar. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Preheat your waffle iron and cook the batter until crispy and golden brown. Set the waffles aside.
  • Cook the Bacon:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare the Burger Patties:
Season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties. Grill or cook in a skillet over medium heat for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Assemble the Burger:
Place one waffle on the plate. Add a burger patty, top with 2 slices of crispy bacon, and drizzle with maple syrup. Optionally, add cheese, lettuce, or tomato. Place another waffle on top to complete the burger.

Notes

  • You can make the waffles in advance and reheat them before serving.
  • For a healthier option, substitute turkey bacon and ground turkey for the bacon and beef.
  • Adjust the spiciness by adding cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the burger patties.
