Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Burger Patties:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • For the Mac ‘n’ Cheese Filling:
    • 1 cup elbow macaroni
    • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Bacon:
    • 6 strips of bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • For Assembly:
    • 4 slices cheddar cheese
    • 4 burger buns
    • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, barbecue sauce

Instructions

  • Cook the Macaroni: Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare the Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour to create a roux, cooking for about 2 minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in milk, followed by shredded cheddar cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Stir the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce.
  • Season the Ground Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix thoroughly.
  • Form the Patties: Divide the beef mixture into eight portions, flattening each into a thin patty. Place a spoonful of mac ‘n’ cheese in the center of four patties, sprinkle with crumbled bacon, and cover with the remaining patties, sealing the edges tightly.
  • Cook the Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. During the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese.
  • Assemble the Burgers: Toast the burger buns, then place a stuffed patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add desired toppings and the top bun. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the mac ‘n’ cheese filling is thick to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • Customize the cheese and toppings to your preference.
  • Can be cooked on a stovetop skillet if a grill is unavailable.
