Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 beef patties (80/20 ground beef)
  • 4 pineapple rings (fresh or canned)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4 tomato slices
  • Optional: onion rings, pickles, jalapeños

  • Grill Pineapple: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush pineapple rings with olive oil and grill for 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized.
  • Cook Patties: Place seasoned patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  • Add Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, place cheese slices on the patties to melt.
  • Toast Buns: Lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill for about 1 minute.
  • Assemble: Spread BBQ sauce on both sides of the buns, layer with lettuce, tomato, the grilled patty, pineapple ring, and optional toppings like onion rings or jalapeños.
  • Serve: Enjoy immediately with extra BBQ sauce and your favorite side.

Notes

  • Feel free to use fresh or canned pineapple, but fresh will give you a more robust flavor.
  • For a spicier kick, try adding jalapeños or pepper jack cheese.
