Instructions
- Cook the Pasta:
Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. - Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent. Drain any excess fat. - Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly. Cook until the sauce thickens. Stir in ketchup, mustard, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses until smooth. - Combine:
Add the cooked pasta and ground beef mixture to the cheese sauce. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through. - Add Bacon:
Stir in the crumbled bacon, saving some for garnish. - Serve:
Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with additional bacon, sliced pickles, and chopped green onions if desired.
